Kontraktionsform (contraction form), vom Verhältnis von Muskelansatz zu Muskelursprung bestimmte Form der Verkürzung der [Muskelfasern](https://schwimmlexikon.de/muskelfaser/). Bezogen auf die Muskellängenänderung werden drei Kontraktionsformen unterschieden:

 	[isometrisch](https://schwimmlexikon.de/isometrisch/): Muskelspannung, ohne die Muskellänge zu verändern (= [statische Arbeitsweise](https://schwimmlexikon.de/maximalkraft-statische/))
 	[konzentrisch](https://schwimmlexikon.de/konzentrisch/): Muskelspannung durch veränderte Muskellänge (= [positiv dynamisch](https://schwimmlexikon.de/krafttraining-dynamisches/), überwindende Arbeitsweise)
 	[exzentrisch](https://schwimmlexikon.de/exzentrisch/): Spannungsänderung mit Verlängerung/Dehnung des Muskels ([negativ dynamisch](https://schwimmlexikon.de/krafttraining-dynamisches/))

Bezogen auf die Spannungsänderung des Muskels spricht man bei dynamischer Arbeitsweise von [auxotonischer](https://schwimmlexikon.de/auxotonisch/)([isotonisch](https://schwimmlexikon.de/isotonisch/)) und bei statischer Arbeitsweise von [isometrischer](https://schwimmlexikon.de/isometrisch/) Kontraktionsform.
